Box Size

Format, Format Box, Size tab

Purpose

Use Box Size to change the size a Staff Box, a Cell Box or an OLE object.

Steps

To size a box using the Format Box dialog,

  1. In the Format Box dialog, choose the Size tab.
  2. To change the box's width,
    enter a new value in the Width edit field.
    or
    Choose Full to size the box to the page's width.

    To change the box's height,
    enter a new value in the Height edit field.
    or
    Choose Full to size the box the page's height.

  3. To keep the ratio of the box's width and height, when changing the values in the Width and Height edit fields,
    check the Keep Ratio check box.
  4. To protect the box from accidental size changes, e.g. through dragging the mouse, check the Protect check box.
  5. To size the box automatically to its contents,
    choose Size Box to Contents.

    To scale the box's contents to the chosen size,
    choose Scale Contents to Box.

    (For Image Boxes only)

    To reset the box's size to its contents, choose the Original Size button. Resetting the size depends on the resolution of the image file. You may specify a resolution, which is used for displaying the image contents.

    To scale the box's contents to the chosen size of the box regardless of the resolution settings,
    choose Scale Contents to Box

  6. Choose OK.

To size a box using the mouse,

  1. Select the box.
  2. Click a size handle in the box's frame with the mouse, hold the mouse button down, and drag the frame to a new position.
  3. When pressing the shift-key during the size operation, the ratio between the box's width and height is preserved.

    Note: Size handles are disabled when automatic sizing is turned on.
