Preview Names (Staff Dialog)

Staff Dialog, Long Names Preview or Short Names Preview

Purpose

Use the Preview Names options to view the limb names in a Staff Dialog in different styles.

Usually the limb names in a staff dialog are displayed with their full group and limb parts.

In the document however, limb names are displayed in special styles, called Long Names or Short Names. By default, in Long Names mode limb row names are displayed, and group names are hidden. In Short Names mode group names are shown as abbreviations, and limb row names are hidden. These default settings may be customized using the Format Limbs dialog.

To activate a certain limb name mode for a staff in your document, use the Limb Names tab in the Staff Properties dialog.

Steps

1. In the Staff Dialog choose one of the following options:

• Long Names.
  View the names of limbs and groups in the style you defined as Long Names in the Format Limbs dialog.
• Short Names.
  View the names of limbs and groups in the style you defined as Short Names in the Format Limbs dialog.
