Use Edit Page Style to change a page style in your document. A page style may
be associated with a number of pages in your document. Changing the page style
means, that your changes will be automatically applied to all pages associated
with this specific style.
A page style defines properties for size, margins etc. for
itself. In addition it defines the Next Style: the style to be used on the following
page. Utilizing this mechanism you can have very precise, but flexible control
over the appearance of the pages in your document. Some common examples include:
Use the style First on the first page of your document to define a special
header. This style defines Default as its next style. It will be used on all
the following pages, as Default specifies itself as Next Style.
Alternating Right and Left to define opposite pages in a book. Use the style
First on the First page on your document to define a special header. Change
the next style of First to Left, so Left will be used on the second page.
Since Left has Right as its next style, Right will be used on the third page.
Right defines Left as its next style, so Left and Right will alternate until
the end of the document. You may change the style properties of Left and Right
(eg. margins, headers and footers) to produce a mirrored layout for left hand
and right hand pages in your book.
Note: When breaking pages manually,
you may override the default page style chain and specify a different style
to be used on the page following the break.
