Staff Properties, Staff Definition

Purpose

Use Staff Definition to view or modify the staff definition of an existing staff. You can change your staff by adding or removing limb rows and changing row heights and limb names.

Note: When Staff Properties are displayed as a floating dialog, the Available Staffs page will be shown along with the Staff Definition on the same page. When displayed in the Format Bar, Available Staffs will be shown on a separate page. For details, see Available Staffs.

Steps

  1. In the Staff Properties dialog, choose the Staff Definition tab.
  2. Move the focus to a staff in your document.

    A summary of the staff's properties is displayed.

  3. To modify the staff, choose Edit.

    The Staff Dialog appears.

  4. An overview of all possible editing actions is described in the Staff Dialog topic.

    Note: Previous cell contents are copied to the modified staff according to the following rules:

    Therefore you should refrain from changing a staff's format and renaming limbs in one action. Instead you should choose the Edit Staff command twice.

  5. Choose OK to apply the changes to the selected staff or staffs.
