Purpose

Use Insert Fields to enter fields into text areas of your document. The text displayed in the fields may change dynamically according to certain conditions.

Steps

  1. Create or Select a text area, which may be a text box, a header, or a footer.
  2. To add a date or a filename field

To add an author, a title or a custom field

    When printing from a master document, you might want to use global page styles, which define uniform headers and footers throughout the whole master document. By using a title field in your global header, you can still display different document titles in the headers of the individual documents. Just keep in mind to define the value of the title field in the Document Properties dialog.
