A score is the central element of an EW Notator document. Before you start writing in a score you have to have a staff on your page.
By default EW Notator opens with an empty staff, so you can immediately start writing into that staff. But you can also start with an empty page by choosing File, New, Blank Document. Then you can place a staff on that empty page by using Insert Staff.
To add columns to a staff, use Insert Columns. When inserting new columns, columns exceeding the right page margin are wrapped to a new staff. To control this automatic wrapping, you can insert a Staff Break or modify breaks in the Staff Properties window. To remove columns, select a range of columns, then choose Delete.
You modify the number of limbs, limb names and row heights of a staff with Edit Staff. To change the appearance of a staff, you can change its borders, fonts and name style.
Apart from continuous scores that can be distributed over several staffs and pages, EW Notator allows you to place a single staff within a box. Use Staff Box to create a staff confined to a box which can be placed anywhere on a page. Staff boxes are convenient for creating scores of several separate body positions on a single page as well as for writing keys.
